Sunset in the Lake District
I sat on the pier and watched as the sun slowly dipped below the hills, bathing the sky and Windermere in gold. A stunning end to a gorgeous day at the Lake District in England. This picture was taken near the Waterhead Hotel in Ambleside.

The Jasper Tramway
Taking the Jasper Tramway to the top of The Whistlers is a great way to get a bird’s eye view of the town of Jasper and its surroundings. On a clear day, the views of the town below, the colourful lakes and mountain ranges (including the snow-capped peak of Mt. Robson, the highest point in the Canadian Rockies) are absolutely spectacular!

Patterns in the mud
On a hike to the Baird Glacier in southeastern Alaska, I stumbled upon a series of stunning patterns in the mud flats at the foot of the glacier. Some of them resemble photos taken of the earth from outer space. I look at them and I see mountain chains, glaciers, volcanoes and river deltas. What do you see?

When I toured around the island, the guide explained the various theories surrounding the mystery of the Easter Island statues. One of the theories involved aliens. Looking at the earliest statues (moai), which look more alien than human, I’m tempted to believe that theory.
